In the Battle of Sobraon, Feb. 10. Captain John Fisher, Commandant of the Sirmoor battalion. He was appointed Ensign 1817, and Captain in the 23d reg. Bengal Native Infantry, June 4, 1831. Sir Henry Hardinge says of this officer, -- ""the Company's service has lost an excellent officer in Captain Fisher, who fell at the head of the brave Sirmoor Regiment, which greatly distinguished itself;"" and Sir Hugh Gough -- ""Captain John Fisher, Commandant of the Sirmoor battalion, fell at the head of his valiant little corps, respected and lamented by the whole army."" |
