Detail  [At Fintray House, co. Aberdeen. Born 2 July 1785, the eldest son of Sir William, 5th Bt. by the Hon. Sarah Sempill. In 1804 he entered the EIC civil service and attained a high judicial appointment in the Madras presidency. After nearly 20 years in India he returned on the death of his brother Sir Arthur Forbes when he succeeded to the title and estates. He married 15 Sept 1825 the Hon. Charlotte Elizabeth Forbes, 3rd dau. of James Ochoncar 17th Lord Forbes, and brother to the present Baron, a distant cousin. She survived him; 2 sons and 4 daus., with the eldest son, now Sir William Forbes, being born in 1836]
