A letter is attached which explains the cause of death as ascertained from the post mortem examination by the Civil Surgeon of Dehra. Accompanying letter from Dr G G MacLaren, Civil Surgeon of Dehra Doon: ... I know nothing of hte case of the late Mr M Rourke, with the ecpetion ofhaving examiend his body, post mortem, on the 5th instant. This examination revealed evidences osf very long stanading disease of the heart, and also syphilitic disease and enlargement of the liver. The immediate cause of death was failure of theheart's action, but the diseases which ultimately induced htis must have been of at least five or six (if not more) years' duration. |
