Remarks  Remarks by Lieut Sawyer, Adjutant Bombay Native Infantry : Mr Allen whilst on duty on board the Peninsular and Oriental steam-ship 'Carnatic' lost every single thing he had on board when she was wrecked, includind Rs 200 in cash. He urged his claim for compensation, but with no satisfactory result. If this could now be obtained as a special case (and it seems clearly due to him either by the Government of India or hte Peninsular and Oriental Company), it would be a great boon, and would defray what has been expended by myself in funearl and other expenses, he having died only just clear of debt.
