Entry  At Serampore, Mrs. C. Bie, aged 70. She was the oldest European inhabitant of this settlement. She came out from Europe at the age of 12, at a time when the town of Serampore was in the zenith of it's prosperity. She was married to Mr. Bie, the magistrate, the nephew of the governor who first welcomed the missionaries of Serampore when the Bengal government had issued orders for their instant departure, and she survived her husband more than 20 years.
