| Surname | Stuart | | First Name(s) | E. R. | | Location | (No place name given) | | Year | 1843 | | Month | November | | Day | 20 | | Entry | Lieut. E. R. Stuart, late of the 39th foot. He was proceeding to Bombay for the purposes of joining another regiment into which he had exchanged. On the march between Dhoonie and Pabwar, when about half way, he shot a duck, which fell into a jheel, and he sent a coolie into the water after it, who, however, could not get it. On this, the ill-fated young man undressed and went in, partly for the purpose of bathing partly to secure the duck- in a few minutes he was observed to be struggling and immediately sunk. It is supposed that he was seized with cramp. | | Year of Publication | 1844 | | Month of Publication | February 9th |
