Remarks / Inscription  VC, Capt, 2 Dragoon Guards, eldest son of Wm, of Avontoun, and Jane Christian NOURSE or BLAIR; served with 9 Lancers & R.A. at Siege of Delhi, & won VC at Bulandshahr where he was severely wounded on 28 Sep 1857. Born at Avontoun, Linlith-gowshire, 13 Mar 1834, d Cawnpore 28 Mar 1859. (This adjoins the grave of Capt. Sir Wm PEKL, KCB, RN).
