Description  A relation of David Brown. Brown had been at several of the outworks of Motipore Factory; eventually settled down as manager of Rajkund Factory. �Old Harry had bolted from home and enlisted as a gunner in the Shekawatti battalion. He was a most amusing old gentleman and always had some extraordinary yarn to tell.� Was sent up by Dr. Begg to look after Begg�s seed business after the Christie family were killed at Cawnpore by the mutineers [i.e., during the Mutiny of 1857-58]. Was at Cawnpore when the disaster to the Queen�s troops took place; had to take shelter within the entrenchments. Contracted a bad fever at Rajkund; died at the Planters� Club.    
Indexer Notes  An outwork was an outlying indigo factory, a subsidiary of a head factory or �concern�.
