Description  Was staying at Tiwarrah c.1848. Gordon had given up indigo, and was going to the Nepal frontier to trade with the Nepalese. For this purpose, he had brought up a lot of things to barter, amongst them some very old muskets. Jack Tindal tried these muskets: he placed Gordon in front of himself, put the butt against Gordons shoulder, and attempted to fire the musket, while Gordon struggled because he was terrified that the musket might go off. Tindal finished by delivering the following verdict: That, though the weapons were undoubtedly of the dangerous order, the danger was greatly diminished by the fact that the guns would not go off.
