The Baptist Church of Mizoram website records that:
"In 1919, Miss E.M.Chapman (Pi Zirtiri) and Miss M.Clark (Pi Zolawmi) joined the first missionaries at Serkawn. They reopened a school for girls. Since there were lady teachers, the enrollment was much higher than before. Thus it paved the way for the emancipation of women in the mizo society."
