Comment | | Erected by the Civil Officers of this station as a tribute of affection and esteem to the joint memory of Charles Edward Macdonald, Esq., of the Madras Civil Service, aged 24 years. A C???? of the fairest promise who, while attempting in the fearless & conscientious discharge of his duty, to appease by prompt and persuasive measure, the fury of a fanatic rabble of Moormen assembled on the 15th June 1837, in the town of Cuddapah, was tho completely unarmed, attacked deserted by his??? and barbarously murdered. And of Agnes, his wife, who only survived him twenty-one days, having died on the 7th July 1837, broken hearted in the 20th year of her age |
