James Wyness, Esq.,
Second Officer of H.M.'s Steamer Kwangtung
who was drowned at Port Blair
on the 20th January 1868
aged 38 years

This stone is erected by his brother officers
and friends as a mark of the respect
and esteem in which he was held
by all who knew him
