Transcription: I William Johnson on the Mount Road Madras in the East Indies Clerk in Holy Orders make oath and say as follows: 1. I am the Minister who performed the Ceremony of Marriage at Christ Church Mount Road within the Diocese of Madras on the 7th day of September AD 1880 between Alfred Brace Cruse and Emma Mary Luttrell. 2. In entering the occurrence of the said marriage in the Register kept in the said Church I did accidentally de[scribe] the condition of the said Emma Mary Luttrell as "Widow" whereas I am credibly informed and believe the same to be that the said Emma Mary Luttrell was a Spinster. [signed] W Johnson. Sworn at Madras this 24th day of August 1881 before me * Chief Presidency Magistrate and Justice of the Peace in and for the Town of Madras
