Image title: Jones, Margaret, tombstone at Trichy
File size: 870,573 bytes

Description

To
Margaret
the beloved and deeply lamented Wife
This tomb is erected
By William Ireland Jones Esq
Major and Assistant Commissary General
In testimony of the many virtues she possessed
And which so amply contributed to his happiness
For the period of their union, Eleven Years
When (as decreed by the Almighty) She was called
From an Earthly, to a Heavenly State,
There to recieve the reward, of that genuine Piety,
Unfeigned Humility, and universal Benevolence
which distinguished her whilst on Earth!

Her nature was full of the milk of human Kindness,
Without a tincture of gall in her disposition;
All who knew her, loved her, and those
Who knew her most, loved her best.
Eheu!! Obiit 27th June 1819
