I William Pope private in H Majestys 43rd Regt do promise in the presence of the Revd Mr Chardliu Rowe an Catholic Chaplain of this station and before the undersigned witnesses to my wife Delphine Ford that should god bless us with children to have them baptized in the Roman Catholic Religion and brought up in that religion and never to interfere with my wife in her religious belief. [signed] William Pope X his mark. May 7 1855.
