Dum Dum Memorial to Irishmen dying during the Retreat from Kabul (1841-42)
search this dataset
An extended list of Irish Soldiers who died during the Retreat from Kabul between November 1841 and January 1842.

Note that these men were in the 1st Troop, 1st Brigade Bengal Horse Artillery. Their names feature on a Memorial erected at Dum Dum in 1844. Only the Irishmen have been extracted from a list of 99 soldiers by Leslie Rogers (Dun Laoghaire) in pursuit of their places of origin. The list is not therefore complete and extra records have been added as found in the India Office Records.
